Do I need a business blog?.

A blog can say a lot about your company. It says you are communicative, open for discussion and engaging. It says you are committed to your customers and have a high level of knowledge that you want to share with them.

So why don’t more business people have blogs?

Any individual or company can set up a blog in a matter of minutes, simply go to WordPress or Blogger and create an account and start blogging.

Easy? Well no. Blogging is more than “having a blog”. A blog is a new way of communicating with your customers, it is two way, it enables your customers to comment back to you, learn and ask questions. A blog is an extension to your company, brand and mission. It integrates with your marketing plan and enhances your customer service experience.

A blog needs careful planning, understanding of what you want to achieve and a constant commitment. This is one of the first stumbling blocks for business bloggers.

Before embarking on your first business blog, take a step back. Think about what you want to achieve, what is possible. Check out your competitors, see how they are using their blogs to interact with their customers. Who are you trying to attract to your blog. Search Technorati and Google blog search for similar business blogs. Think about the type of articles and information you would like to share with your customers.

Once you have a clear idea in your mind of what you want out of your business blog and how to attract the right readers you are ready to start planning your blog.

Coming soon…planning your blog.
